FCRTA 2010 Classroom Library Grant

The Fairfax Reading Teacher Association is committed to making sure FCPS classrooms are well-supplied with a range of books adequate for all of their students.  This is why we are again offering our popular classroom library grant.  We will award at least five $250 grants to applicants from Fairfax County classrooms with demonstrated need.

We are currently calling for all interested candidates to apply for these grants before the January 10^th, 2010 deadline. Last year, five FCPS classrooms were awarded classroom library grants! 

 Guidelines

• This grant will be awarded to schools that have a demonstrated need and support the organization’s commitment to providing students access to a wide range of high-quality literature with the intent of increasing independent reading and fostering a love of books.

• All books purchased with grant money will belong to the school and will not become the personal property of the applicant.  FCRTA will provide donation labels to be placed in the materials purchased. 

• The grant-winning applicant agrees to provide pictures of students using the books for use on the FCRTA website by the end of April. No student names will be used.  (It is the responsibility of the classroom teacher to verify opt-out status of all students in photographs.)

• Interested teachers should complete the application indicating how the money will be used, as well as the need for this grant. 

• All applications should include the following:

                     Name and email address

                     A work phone number where the applicant can be reached

                     Contact information for the school’s reading teacher
